Promotion

With the approaching retirement of Mark Hamel, it was essential to find the best person to lead the Water Distribution and Wastewater divisions into the future.

Randy Baker is the next Water Distribution Superintendent, with his appointment effective September 18, 2021.  Randy began his career with the City of Russell in January 2000.  For the past 19 years, he has been the Water Distribution and Wastewater Lead worker, where he has been a valuable member of the water distribution and wastewater divisions.

"Randy's extensive knowledge of the city's water distribution and transmission system, dedication to safety and quality, coupled with his commitment to the community, make Randy the ideal candidate to move the department forward," says City Manager Jon Quinday.

The Water Distribution Division maintains 51 miles of water mains, 32 miles of raw water transmission lines, install new water mains as needed, does maintenance work on all related distribution, transmission, and source facilities. The Water Distribution Division is also responsible for maintaining the wastewater collection system.
