The Fire Explorer Program is a young adult program offered by the City of Russell Fire Department. The program is designed for both male and female High School students between the ages of 14 to 18 years of age. The explorers receive training similar to volunteer and professional firefighters, including basic fire chemistry, hose evolution, ladder operations, medical and CPR training, hazardous materials, and auto extrication.
It is the mission of the Russell City Fire Department Explorer Program to:
Provide young adults an effective Explorer Program designed to build character, provide citizenship, develop both mental and physical fitness and instill the ability to function as a part of a team and familiarize members with the fire service in general.
