We are proud to continue our residential vacation watch program. This program is intended for residents who will be away for short periods of time and don't have anyone locally to watch their home. 

Residents may request their home be placed on the vacation watch list by:

• Visiting the police department at 339 E. 8th Street and filling out the request. 
• Download the vacation watch request and fill-out the form and bring it to the police department, or;
• Download the vacation watch request and Email it or;
• Download the vacation watch request and faxing it to (785) 483-6360.

Residents requesting to be placed on the vacation watch list are reminded:

• They must put a telephone number where they can be reached, regardless if keys have been left with anyone locally. 
• It is advisable they have their mail / newspapers held or have someone pick up their mail / newspapers daily.
• To call the police department when they return.
• The checks are being done as a courtesy and may not be completed daily due to other calls for service.

The residential vacation watch program is not intended for homes for sale or homes which are no longer lived in. These types can be added on a case-by-case basis if there are extraordinary circumstances (example – recent divorce, dispute between owners, etc.)
