In an effort to address aging park infrastructure in Water Tower Park, Fossil Creek Park and Bickerdyke Park, the City of Russell applied for and received $116,229 in Kansas Department of Commerce Community Development Block Grant funding. Playscapes Structures was awarded the contract for the project with the low bid in the amount of $218,474.68. City crews have been working alongside Playscapes Structures over the last few months to install the new equipment.
As of March 25, 2022 Water Tower Park is open for play. Fossil Creek Park and portions of Bickerdyke Park remain closed while staff await the delivery of fall protection material.
