Our officers, who are state certified officers through the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center, provide the uniformed police services to our community and are the front line in protecting our citizens and combating crime. Combating crime is only one aspect of a patrol officer’s responsibilities. Our officers strive to ensure that Russell is a safe place to live, work and raise a family.
Officers spend time developing and maintaining an effective rapport with the citizens and are alert for issues that may impact the quality of life in a neighborhood. Officers work under the philosophy that community safety is their personal responsibility and take pride in keeping our neighborhoods safe.
In the absence of a full-time Investigator, our patrol officers are responsible for all investigations – including violent crimes like homicide, rape, battery and robbery, along with property crimes like burglaries, thefts, forgeries and other non-violent crimes involving property.
